Webcam showing Les Drus and La Verte (4122m) overlooking Les Grands Montets ski area. This area is one of the prime locations for climbing in the region, however there have been some large scale (spectacular) collapses which means the area becomes off limits (one to check before you head off).

This is the only view there is in the valley which gives a complete overview of the Grands Montets ski area – home to much of Chamonix’s most infamous ski terrain. In fact the area is so steep and large we have had to tilt the image to get it to fit in a panoramic shaped view, so the true steepness needs 20 degrees adding to it!

A view looking down over the Brevent/Planpraz ski area in Chamonix. The area is south facing and gets plenty of sunshine, with several cruisy blues, some steep reds and stacks of off-piste access.

Here are the conditions are the top from the Italian side of the Vallée Blanche. The Helbronner is at 3322m so we are talking proper mountain climate here.

Located on the Northern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif, at 5.6km and 200m deep this is the second longest glacier in Europe. See it for yourself with a walk (for the fit!) and/or a train ride up to the Montenvers.

At the top end of the valley the Domaine de la Balme links Le Tour and Vallorcine ski areas to give a fun ski area for beginners down the front slopes and some fantastic tree-lined off-piste for the advanced down the back. usually one of the quieter Chamonix areas… The lift in the picture is the Autannes chairlift.
