This is the view from our Gardiner, Montana office. The Yellowstone River, in the foreground, is at about 5,100 feet above sea level and the top of Electric Peak, on the skyline, is 10,990. Electric lies inside Yellowstone National Park. The tree directly across the river plays host to Bald Eagles in the winter months – they have seen as many as 4 at a time there.

You are looking over the visitor center parking lot, across a lawn area that was once used as a drill field by the U.S. Cavalry stationed at Fort Yellowstone. Beyond the fenced area, that warns visitors of a location where the surface limestone has collapsed creating a large hole, appear the white travertine deposits of the Mammoth Hot Spring Terraces.
