A view of Chamonix town centre, overlooking the Place Balmat. This is one of the most popular areas of town and plays host to numerous events, starts of races, and don’t forget to turn up here for the New Year’s Eve celebrations!

The Aiguille du Midi (3845m) is the highest point accessible by cable-car in the Chamonix valley. The Aiguille du Midi is well known as the start of the famous Vallee Blanche off-piste ski run over the glaciers; and is also one of the access routes to climbing the Mont Blanc (4811m).

This is a view from the other side of the hill in Italy, from the resort of Courmayeur. When weather conditions are good or bad in Chamonix they can be totally different a short drive through the Mont Blanc Tunnel. So it is always useful to see what is going on there, especially with regards the snow conditions in winter – for that sneaky powder day or when the blizzards are in in Cham, Courmayeur can be basking in sunshine.
